Fight Results

30/11/10 5:51 PM

BST had a great weekend with 10 fighters in four different events and six wins.

Matthew Wise was fighting for the AMMA Light Heavyweight British Title in Birmingham, he had trained hard and was ready to go. His opponent, Alex Smith trains at UTC Birmingham, he’s a heavy hitter and was the local favourite. Round one was a little tentative with both fighters exchanging good hand and feet strikes but Matthew came out with some better striking, despite his opponent giving some heavy keg kicks and jabs.  Both fighters came out swinging in round two and after trading punches Matthew got sent crashing to the canvas with an overhand right, followed up with some heavy blows to the head. He immediately cam back with a takedown against the cage to regain his composure throwing a flurry of punches and landing a heavy knee to his opponent’s eye before grounding and pounding. The ref then stopped the fight, with a knockout win to Matthew.

Marcin Cyberny was first up at the Battle Arena in Northampton. He’s a light heavy weight, this was his first fight and he came out aggressive. His first strike was a headkick which knocked his opponent off guard and gave an oppening for a combination of puches, taking his opponent into the air before grounding and pounding. His opponent turned onto his front and Marcin won with a rear naked choke.

Nick Christie had a good fight at the Battle Arena, fighting a very experienced opponent from Kettering Shootfighters who was looking for a takedown but Nick kept on his feet while showing better stand up skills.  He was dominant in round two and took his opponent down, before grounding and pounding him to win on a TKO.

Dean William is getting notorious for finishing his fights early and this was no exception, getting a triangle after just 1:06 in the first round, 6 seconds longer than his last fight.

Reece Munro’s fight went the distance although he was taking his opponent down repeatedly. He won with a unanimous decision after round three.

Jodan Cotman had the fight of the night with an all out war against an opponent with a 4-0 record against Jodan’s 3-1. They both came out swinging in round one, with a fast paced stand up battle which ended with both fighters tired, but about even on score. Jodan’s opponent looked to have recovered better at round two, but Jodan had him rocked with a great spell of fighting. However he was interrupted mid-flow by the referee to clean up some spilt water which gave his opponent a chance to recover and Jodan went downhill from there, losing by TKO in round two.

Kieron Rolfe was also fighting at Battle Arena, although it was doubtful if he would fight at all having been ill all week. He was hoping to pick up a title but he was still being sick 10 minutes before the fight so testament to him for even starting! He showed alot of heart and dominated in round one landing strikes to the head and body, although he did take some leg kicks. He looked tired in round two and his illness clearly slowed him, his opponent picked him off with leg kicks and strikes Kieron lost by TKO in round two.

Tom Hendle dominated all five rounds in his Muay Thai bout, but was fighting a hometown favourite and somehow lost by decision.

Sam Omomogbe was fighting a Muay Thai bout at K-STAR. His opponent pulled out of the fight, so Sam got a new fighter; a bigger, 35 year old fighter with a 6 fights, 5 KO’s record. He was taunting Sam in round one and landed a good clean shot, however the he carried on taunting and Sam knocked him out, scoring a win in round one.

Pindi Madahar was going for a British Muay Thai title at K-STAR. He had a five round war but showed why he is undefeated, winning by unanimous decision.

Well done to everyone who faught, Myles Mitchinson and Daniel McGowan are next up on the 5th December, we’ll keep you informed!

Rox’s blog

19/11/10 2:45 PM

Wow what a morning, boxing 10-11am then no-gi jiu jitsu 12.30-1.30. Boxing was ok, felt quite good after, and no-gi was going well until the sparring at the end. There’s three of us, so we do a 5 minute round with each person and those girls don’t mess about! I’m aching, tired and bruised but had a good weeek of training, looking for ward to next week!

Rox’s blog

16/11/10 3:49 PM

Hi everyone, it’s week three of training and it’s going well! Still doing 5 days a week, but we’ve added a few more sessions in – I’m now doing Boxing Monday, Wednesday and Friday, MMA Tuesday, MMA / Kickboxing Thursday and No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Friday. Sounds a lot but it’s actually quite manageable as long as I do lots of stretching after and keep chugging the Cherry Active to keep the aches away!
